Spring STEM Activities

Pollinator Craft

In our online workshop we discussed different pollinators and how they help plants grow. To make your very own pollinator

  • Fold paper in half vertically and open
  • Place paint on one wing of the butterfly trying to cover as much white as possible
  • Fold in half again and open
  • Once paint is done drying , cut out around the butterfly outline

Counting Flowers

As part of our spring math curriculum we did basic addition with flowers

For each number we saw in our equation we drew that amount of stems. Ex. 2+2, we would draw two stems and than come back to the equation and draw the other to stems. Next we counted how many stems we had in total and wrote the number in the middle of the flower pot.

We used q-tips and paint to dot on flowers, but you also use crayons or markers to draw on your flowers!

My Plant Journal

To conclude with a science experiment we discussed our vocab word of the week: “hypothesis” and set up our experiment

Garden in a Bag

After placing seeds on a wet paper towel inside a plastic ziplock bag, we created our very own scientific journal a.k.a. our plant journal that we will document through the next week the growth that we see by drawing in each box. At the end of the week will check back and see if our hypothesis was correct or not.
